BP701T. INSTRUMENTAL METHODS OF ANALYSIS (Theory)
About Lesson

Introduction to spectroscopy

Electromagnetic radiation, spectrum range –  Visible, U.V, I.R, micro, radio, x- rays, gama rays or cosmic rays (their wavelength and energies), characteristics of EMR (wave and particle nature).

Definition of terms: frequecy, wavelength, wavenumber.

Types of spectroscopy:

(1. atomic/ molecular, 2. absorption/ emission, 3. electronic/ magnetic levels),

Theory of spectroscopy:  Incident and transmitted light, excitation and relaxation process of atoms and molecules.

Applications of spectrometer/ instrumental methods of analysis in pharmaceutical industries.
